Within the scope of a cooperation project between the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences the the company a.tron3d Microsoft’s Kinect was used to reconstruct a scene (in real time) in 3D. The depth data coming from the Kinect was visualized using a Marching Cubes approach and further processed using the VTK-Toolkit as well as the Qt Framework.
The experience gained from this process using the Kinect as a prototype was then appied to the company’s internally developed intraoral scanner.
